The Dark Hand of Treachery is the second episode of Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light. Written by Flint Dille, it was released on September 28, 1987.
Synopsis[]
The Darkling Lords set out to trap and capture the good knights of Prysmos one by one. Mortdred and Reekon discover their powers to control vehicles by magic gifted to them by Merklynn. In the dungeon of Darkstorm's castle, Leoric renames himself and his fellow captives the Spectral Knights.
Plot[]
The unified Darkling Lords begin to pick off the good aligned magical knights. First baiting Arzon with the trap of a disguised Virulina. Then forcing Witterquick to waste his powerstaff in fleeing to New Valarak, only to be captured at the gates by awaiting Darkling Lords. Finally they ambush Cryotek on his way to his snowy kingdom of Northalia with Galadria.
Escaping into the water under the ice, Galadria makes it back to New Valarak to warn Leoric, Ectar and Feryl. Troubled by Darkstorm's treachery, Leoric consults his Wisdom Powerstaff and is told "You must become one with the circle of light". However, the Darkling Lords strike quickly, unleashing Cindarr's power of destruction.
Meanwhile, Reekon and Mortdredd, sent to scour the junkyards for metals, discover that they can embue vehicles with magical energy. The Sky Claw and Dagger Assault vehicles join the assault, piloted by Mortdredd and Reekon. Leoric and the others are outnumbered and eventually subdued. As a warning to the knights, Darkstorm removes Feryl's totem with the magical dungeon in the Dagger Assault.
The knights are then imprisoned in the Dark Domain. Leoric realizes what his powerstaff meant, and together they form the alliance of the "Spectral Knights". However, whilst the Knights celebrate their new alliance, Lexor floods the prison, hoping to drown all the Spectral Knights for mocking him.
